1.Who we are
Mi Habana es así is an independent platform that publishes analysis and connects people interested in Cuba's economy. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government, agency, or political organization. We are the controller of the information described below.
2.What we collect
If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address and the role you select. If you register a business or an investment opportunity, we collect the fields you submit on that form, such as your name, contact details, sector, and a description of the business or opportunity. We also keep basic technical logs, like an approximate time of request and limited diagnostic data, which help us run the site securely.
3.How we use it
We use your information to respond to you, to operate the waitlist and the marketplace, and to verify submissions through identity and sanctions screening before anything is listed. We do not use it for unrelated purposes, and we keep the amount of data we handle to the minimum needed to do these things well.
4.Legal basis and consent
You provide your information voluntarily. By submitting a form, you consent to us processing the details you send for the purposes described in this policy. You can withdraw that consent at any time by asking us to delete your information, as explained below.
5.What we do not do
We do not sell your personal data. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. Your details are used to provide and protect the service, not to be monetized.
6.Sharing
We share information only when it is necessary to run the platform. That can include trusted service providers, such as hosting and email infrastructure, who act under contract and only on our instructions. We also carry out sanctions screening to keep all parties safe and compliant. Your personal data is never sold to anyone.
7.Retention
We keep your information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. When it is no longer needed, we remove it. You can ask us to delete your information sooner, and we will, unless we are legally required to retain it.
8.Your choices
You can ask to access the information we hold about you, to correct it if it is wrong, or to delete it. If you joined the waitlist, you can unsubscribe at any time. To exercise any of these choices, contact us at the address published on the site.
9.Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, we store credentials and secrets in a managed vault rather than in our code, and we follow a least-data principle, collecting only what we need. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
10.Sanctions note
Activity involving Cuba is subject to applicable laws and economic sanctions, including United States regulations administered by OFAC. The screening we perform on submissions exists to protect every party and to keep the platform compliant. It is part of how we use the information you provide, and it is not optional.
11.Changes and contact
We may update this policy at any time, and the date above will reflect the latest version. Questions, or requests about your information, can be sent to the contact address published on the site.
